Pain Management
No one likes to be in pain, and the same is true of our furry family members. At Acworth Animal Hospital, our compassionate doctors are concerned about keeping your pet healthy, and as pain-free as possible. Painful conditions in pets can arise for a variety of reasons, including surgical procedures, diseases, and age-related issues such as arthritis and painful joints. Our veterinarians are experienced in identifying underlying causes for pain, and determining solutions to keep your pet as comfortable as possible.
At Acworth Animal Hospital, we recommend pain preventatives prior to any surgery, regardless of the complexity. A routine spay or neuter can cause hurt just as much as a more complex orthopedic surgery. Upon completion of your pet’s surgery, our experienced staff continue to monitor your pet and our doctors can provide additional medication if needed. Finally, our doctors will make a determination on whether or not pain management should be continued, and will prescribe products to take home if necessary.
Age-related painful conditions are relatively common in both people, as well as our pets. At Acworth Animal Hospital, we diagnose many arthritis cases each year, and can often help those pets return to their playful selves with long-term medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Remember while pets may play less often as they age, becoming older is not an illness. If your pet is beginning to slow down, it may be possible that an NSAID can return them to previous levels of activity.
Remember that animals experience pain in much the same way people do. If you live in Acworth, Woodstock, Cartersville, or Kennesaw, Georgia or the surrounding areas and your pet is facing a surgical procedure, or may be losing interest in exercise or play, have them evaluated by one of our experienced veterinarians at Acworth Animal Hospital.
